Fighting hunger | Tackling food waste

FareShare Midlands is the region’s largest food redistribution charity. We take good quality surplus food from the food industry and get it to frontline charities all over the Midlands, reaching more than 60,000 vulnerable people every week.

Helping the Midlands

According to the government, more than a million people in the Midlands live in poverty and struggle to feed themselves and their families. These are the people our Members are trying to support.

We're making a difference...

Almost 60% of the organisations we work with, particularly charities and community groups, would not be able to survive without the support of FareShare Midlands. By accessing our surplus foods, they are able to save thousands of pounds every year. And often, these savings really make the difference, allowing them to stay open and continue making the vital and tangible contribution to the communities they are committed to serving. For without us, many could not stay open.

young people go hungry every day

Food poverty is a huge problem in cities like Birmingham, Nottingham and Leicester - particularly among people aged 18 and under. Yet perfectly good food is wasted every day by food retailers and the wider UK food industry. At FareShare Midlands, we are passionate about redirecting this food, so people who are going hungry, particularly children and families, are able to receive at least one nutritious meal every day of the week.
