FareShare welcomes German publication, Der Spiegel, to Birmingham depot to learn about food insecurity in the UK

Mark your calendars and prepare your party hats, as FareShare Midlands is hosting a series of parties to celebrate and appreciate our incredible volunteers during Volunteers Week, which takes place from June 1st to June 7th. Without our dedicated volunteers, we wouldn't be where we are today!

FareShare - the UK's biggest charity fighting hunger and food waste - is calling on farmers, food producers and retailers in the Midlands to help get good-to-eat food, which may otherwise go to waste, to its network of over 500 charities.

With unprecedented increases in energy prices and the associated business operating costs, the external environment continues to challenge our ambitions to support the most vulnerable members of our local communities. After much deliberation, in April FareShare Midlands made the difficult decision to consolidate the number of sites that we currently operate from, which unfortunately means closing our Lincoln and Holmewood sites at the end of June.

UK charities Muslim Hands and FareShare Midlands have released a ‘Cost-of-Living Crisis Report’ which found service users deeming initiatives such as the Open Kitchen a lifeline amid soaring inflation.

FareShare Midlands is proud to announce the launch of the Elevate programme in partnership with the Centre for Ageing better, which will help those over 50 affected by redundancy back into work in the West Midlands.
