Once a volunteer for FareShare Midlands herself, Cat is now a vital part of the staff team, helping to recruit and support the team of volunteers in Leicester

In an innovative partnership, the GAT fund Family Action Peterborough to have an extra order of surplus supplies delivered by FareShare Midlands once a week. Six local GAT schools refer families into the Family Action Peterborough FOOD Club.

Ecological Care Solutions was founded by Sineke Ndhlovu and three friends, two of whom she met through working with food banks. Every month Sineke collects a supply from FareShare Midlands and then each of them takes a quarter of the food and shares it with people in need in different parts of Leicester.

The UK Islamic Mission (UKIM) started in 1962 and is an international charity working to deliver relief across the world. The organisation works on projects involving water, education, food, healthcare and disaster management. All its services are delivered by volunteers – the only paid employees are ones who are working in the charity’s mosques and schools.

Family Action transforms lives by providing practical, emotional and financial support to those experiencing poverty, disadvantage and social isolation across the country. The organisation, established in 1869, works with over 60,000 families a year and delivers 200 community-based services.

The primary school, located on the outskirts of Leicester not only gives pupils healthy meals, but also their parents the peace of mind that their child is cared for and fed amid cost of living crisis

The Love Your Neighbour Hub was launched during the COVID19 lockdown. It is run by St Luke’s Church and located in Birmingham. The Hub’s volunteers coordinate social action projects and deliver resources to the surrounding communities to meet local needs and show love in action.

The Your Local Pantry – Brasshouse opened in 2020 to help relieve food poverty in the local community, as the COVID19 pandemic was further highlighting the impact that food poverty was having on local people. It is an initiative of the North Smethwick Development Trust, whose members work with locals to provide support and make their community thrive.
