Help Feed School Children This Summer #NoEmptyPlates
- 4.3 million children are living in poverty and food insecurity.
- 96% of our charity members are seeing the effects of the cost of living crisis.
- 70% are seeing more families with children among those new to their services.
We do not have enough food to meet the unprecedented demand. We need help.
Millions more people are facing unheard-of levels of economic hardship and being forced into food poverty across the UK, which is having a detrimental impact on children.
During the long summer holidays parents and carers can find themselves under increased pressure to feed and care for schoolchildren, leaving these children and their wider family network experiencing decreased health and wellbeing.
Your donation will help to ensure that children living in areas of high deprivation have access to healthy lunches throughout the school holidays.
Research shows that children who regularly miss meals and arrive at school hungry and thirsty are at a significant disadvantage, lacking in concentration and the ability to learn. In the summer school holidays the impact can be even greater with evidence of children returning to school undernourished and underweight.
These families in need are turning to the charities that we supply with food for help in ever-greater numbers.
